Friday Finds: 2.27.15

friday finds - www.iamafoodblog.com

So…it’s Friday! This week past by in a flash. The other day Mike and I went grocery shopping super late (which is my absolute fave because hello discount bakery items and empty store). Afterwards I wanted to grab bubble tea but we got there just as the open sign flickered off. It was tragic, I tell you. I mean, I could have gone up to the door and asked if the girl cleaning up inside would take pity and make me a fresh mango with mango mochi and pearls, but I know how it feels when it’s the end of shift and you just want to go home. So, no bubble tea for me. It’s definitely happening this weekend, I tell you!

Also I watched The Voice for the first time ever. I haven’t watched any of the previous seasons, but now that I finally have cable and a DVR, I can see myself becoming obsessed v v quickly. Are you guys fans?!

Webstuff:
1. Okay, this white and gold/black and blue dress thing drove me CRAZY!
2. I’m really sad they didn’t have these bake-able cheese cake KitKats while I was in Japan.
3. I’m obsessed with this Pixar short.
4. This was a good long read.
5. Cheeeeeeeeese.
6. Read this if you love Paris, pastry, and Japanese.

Link Love:
1. Matcha-black sesame babka!!
2. Individually layered nachos = HEAVEN.
3. Celebratory passionfruit and chocolate cupcakes.
4. My kind of bowl: nutty quinoa, roasted cauliflower and spicy chicken.
5. I’ve never meet a brownie I didn’t like! Exhibit A, B, and C.

I’ve got my eye on you:
1. Sushi towels!
2. Thinking of investing in some Heath Ceramics for everyday eats, but not sure if I can justify it…
3. My phone keeps dying and I’m thinking of getting an external battery. I love how skinny this one is.

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

love & potatoes,
xoxo Steph

  1. OH MAN!!! those KitKats are so worthy to be the next mass produce food. I want to order a entire crate! Such a delicious link party to end the week on.

  2. What is up with that dress thing?! I see white/gold …. I don’t understand. :-|

I learned waaaaay more about retinal functionality last night thanks to that dang dress. But what was really wild was that I went back and forth between seeing white/gold and blue/black. MAKE IT STOP.

  4. Gregory Walker says:

Heath Ceramics makes some of the most elegant, and functional, ceramics around. My wife and I have been buying pieces for years. In fact, as I type this on a sunny, but cold morning in the Mid West, a white Heath ceramic pitcher full of flowers is illuminated on the countertop. If you have a chance to visit the store in Sausalito CA, you can go for a tour of the factory, find some amazing deals, and eat at one of amazing nearby restaurants. We love the restaurant ‘Fish’ (http://www.331fish.com) – less than a block from the Heath Factory store.

  5. A batcave of cheese, which requires protective clothing and beardnets…awesome! :-)

  6. Beth says:

My husband and I are honeymooning in San Francisco right now and it was just yesterday that we stumbled across the Heath Ceramics store at the Ferry Building Marketplace! Really nice stuff and I’ve added many of their pieces to our wish list!

  7. Oh those dishes are gorgeous. Now I want a set!

  8. Abby says:

Ohh, I love The Voice Stephanie! Keep watching, it gets SO good :D

  9. Marissa says:

That dress, Gah!! Lots of fun stuff here, thanks! + Happy Weekend!

  10. Alana says:

Yay for The Voice! I love it and think this is gonna be the best season yet. That dress thing really freaks me out!! Did you try the custard bake-able kitkats? We got some and Moses loved them. Will be on the hunt for the cheesecake version. Thank you for the link love!! And OMG sushi towels. Heath is a mega splurge–we only have a few pieces (which we got at their annual sale) but LOVE LOVE LOVE each and every one that we do have.

  11. Miyaka says:

This is awesome! Besides your regular recipe posts (which I love to death since your photography is always super stunning!), I love reading your Friday Finds since you always link interesting things! =D

And about the little bubble tea blurb, I really want to say that I wish there were more customers like you! I also work at a bubble tea place and it’s frustrating when people walk in just as we’re about to close… In other words, thank you! Hopefully you’ll get your mango with mango mochi fix soon!

  12. jenna says:

Do you have a good Asian market near you? I found the bakeable kit kats at my local (amazing) supermarket.

  13. Sarah says:

The Heath ceramics are very tempting…

  14. Brownie love!!! I just blogged about my no-bake brownies with raw honey … so tasty you would never guess they’re healthy for you too! >>> http://back2spain.com/2015/02/24/1803/ … cheers!

  15. Maurizio says:

Heath ceramics are some of my favorite bowls and dishes in my kitchen. But yes, pricey!
