Galaxy Glaze Doughnuts

Posted December 15, 2016 by Stephanie

Last October, Mike and I visited the Griffith Observatory. We’ve been to LA many times, but for some reason the Observatory was never really on our radar. Well, we finally went and it was so nice we did it twice! The first time we went at night to get a good look at the city and the stars above. It’s amazing how you can actually see stars there considering the light leak from LA. We looked peeking through the telescopes and wanted to explore the Observatory, but spent so much time looking at the city that it shut down.

Naturally, we went back then next day to explore and the nerd in me loved all of the displays. It made me want to get out of the city and stargaze, which is exactly what we did because we left LA that day to drive back home. After a couple of nights on the road, I happened to look up out the window and was amazed by how many stars I could see. Mike and I stopped on the side of the road and believe it or not, saw the milky way with our naked eyes. It was breathtaking. And cold, so we didn’t look for too long.

But, I was so inspired that I made these doughnuts. Because in my mind, nothing beats gazing at the stars with my favorite person and my favorite person happens to be a fan of doughnuts. These doughnuts whipped up in flash, thanks to my KitchenAid® Artisan® Mini Mixer. I’m in LOVE with it. I love all things mini, so it’s no surprise, really. It’s quiet, has a nice compact footprint, and has the same power as the full size KitchenAid® tilt-head Stand Mixers. I’ve used it to make cinnamon buns, countless batches of cookies, and even pasta with the roller attachment. It’s bomb.

There are lots of nice holiday and winter memories, one of my favorites would be this past Christmas, the second after my mother died, my sister surprised me with tickets to see Wicked. Wicked was our mom’s favorite musical, she saw it three times. She would always play the soundtrack to it in the car on our way to school when we were younger. My sister and I finally got to see it last Christmas and it was so incredible to experience the musical my mother loved so much. I cried so much that night, I felt so close to my sister and my mother, it was magical.

My favorite holiday memory has been taking my kids to a magnificant display here in town called Christmas in the Park. We have gone every year, even when they were too young to really enjoy it. It has become a holiday tradition.

My favorite winter memory was when i got to see snow for the first time & last time actually. I was a little kid and I was so amazed with how nice the outside looked. I remember my mother dressed us up with sweaters, a beanie & a scarf so my siblings and I wouldnt get sick, We looked like little balls ready to roll on the snow lol. I live in California but it hasnt snowed here in my town anymore since then just in the mountains close by. Its one of my favorite winter memories!

    Whoa! That color tho!!

  8. My favorite winter memories are 1) when we went skiing and my whole family ate 2 bags of marshmallows, 1 mega bag of chocolates, and a box of graham crackers in one night. I think my tiny skinny asian mom ate 10 smores that night (and I gained 10 lbs that night( 2) making super elaborate christmas cookies each year for Santa :) we made so much it was to the point that Santa could no longer eat them all haha
We are a very food centric family :P

I would LOVE to be a winner of this – I am a hge fan of kitchen aid and dream of affording one someday – the tiny would would be perfect for my northeast apartment

I don’t have an insta (too many weirdos in the world) but hopefully this will still count. My favorite memories are always baking-related. As a kid, I’d bake with my grandma; as a college-student, I’d bake for my friends; as a teacher, I’d bake for my students. The best times, though, are baking with my sister <3

  10. These are beautiful!

My favorite holiday memory is going to cut the tree down as a kid and arguing nonstop over the tree. My sister was ALWAYS right about which tree was the best and never listened to me, but I eventually tricked her into choosing my tree. It’s not a great story, but it’s a memory my sister and I still laugh about. Especially since we’re going again tomorrow to find a tree! We’ll see how it goes.

Here is my link! https://instagram.com/p/BOYO1p8DDRW/ one of my favorite holiday memories is when we had someone drop by with a bag full of toys from a local toy drive. We didn’t have a lot that Christmas, if anything, so that kind gesture made the difference in our Christmas. I’ll never forget that. For that reason, I always donate toys to local toy drives! Those donuts looks awesome! I’m impressed!
