It’s been a strange week and there’s a lot that’s going on in the world (as always), but I prefer my little corner of the internet to be my cozy spot where nothing bad ever happens. And with that, I’m glad that it’s Friday. I spent the week spending nights in with Mike and meeting up with friends, new and old. It looks like the weekend is going to be filled with food (no surprise there) and a bunch of errands that I’ve been putting off forever.

Last weekend Samuel Adams gave me the opportunity to go to FBC 2014, a food bloggers conference for Canadians and it was lovely meeting so many friendly Canadian faces! There were a bunch of workshops, lots of food, and lots of Samuel Adams beer. There was a beef cheek ravioli in beer consommé that was particularly innovative and delicious.

It was a good time all around, but highlights included hearing Ashley chat about about being vulnerable, Julie’s hilarious tales about Anthony Bourdain, and Matt’s insight about being a professional food photographer. I really feel that one of the best parts of blogging is the community and it’s so satisfying meeting bloggers in real life and realizing that they are just the same as who they are on their blogs.

Now onto what I’ve been reading around the internet!

1. I’m pretty sure I need to visit Fukuoka.
2. These guys take snacks seriously! via my name is yeh.
3. I’ve boughten Sun Noodle ramen kits before from Asian stores, but now they’re going to be at Whole Foods!
4. Do you think your birth season affects your mood?
5. I have to admit, I’m ridiculously excited about the new Taylor Swift album – I’ve been reading reviews to gear up.

Link Love:

1. Soup’s been on my mind and this one looks full of wonderful things.
2. Deep fried cheese. Need I say more?
3. Even better than cinnamon buns – black sesame buns!
4. These cinnamon raisin knots look like such a calm, lovely morning.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Steph

  1. It has definitely been a weird week in Canada..shootings, babies in lockers..WTF?!?! It’s times like this we need to hold hands and share food. Loving your links this week!

  2. Love the links Stephanie! Also, I am so excited for Taylor swift’s new album – I’m kinda in love with her! She met her fans and had a party at her house and she baked cookies. OMG!!

We’re far away but we’re definitely sending virtual hugs to our family back home. My husband has a cousin that works on Parliament Hill… scary stuff. On a happier note, those ramen kits look amaaazing. I wonder if I could find them in an Asian grocery store in Calgary.

  4. Those cinnamon raisin knots look amazzzing! Have a lovely weekend!

What what WHAT Sun Noodle kits?! And ooooh my goodness those little potato cups of happiness you made are calling my name. Love your link round-ups as always <3 (and thank you so much for including me!!!)

  6. I cannot wait to make the cinnamon raisin knots! Personally, I think one’s mood is impacted by factors more significant than birth seasons. Great roundup! Enjoy a fun weekend, Stephanie :)

  7. Great selection of cool inspiration :D Thank you for including my recipe <3 Have a great weekend!

  8. That conference looked like so much fun! I was perving on everyone’s instagram shots of it…I will come and meet ya’ll in America if it’s the last thing I do! Also, those cinnamon raisin knots are my Scandi dream come true.

  9. birth season affecting mood – i was determined to be a goth because i was born in rainy cold and dreary november. just call me a guns and roses song … i was so happy that teddy was born in the summer because it’s been my dream to have a summer birthday – swimming parties, backyard fun, sunny outdoor birthday singing, etc… ha!

so glad you got to go to the food bloggers conference! would’ve been fun to have joined you!! mmm those frosty beers are making me thirsty and i don’t even drink, haha! also beef cheek in beer consommé? NOICE.

you will have to convince me that i love taylor swift. i know absolutely zero songs by her – but i am sure you have the power of persuasion! she has very cute style and seems very media saavvy – so that makes me curious about her music! ha… xxo
