Friday Finds: 7.7.17

Posted July 6, 2017 by Stephanie

We’ve made it more than halfway across Canada! We’re totally behind on our travel posts, but we’ve been having a blast. You know what they say about time and fun? It’s true – the days are just flying by and soon we’ll be at the edge of the Atlantic. Lately we’ve been eating up a storm in Toronto and I’ve gotta say, alternating between camping and staying in hotels is my jam. I love the contrast of going from national parks with sketchy cell phone service to multiple lane highways and big city buzz. I thought it would be rough going from sleeping under the stars in a tent to sleeping in cozy beds in glossy glass rooms, but it makes me appreciate both so much more.

Anyway, even with all the travel, there’s still time to check out the internets a bit, because the internet never sleeps. This is what we’ve been creeping on!

Webstuff:

  1. Did you know that not all bird eggs are not shaped like what we think the typical egg shape is?
  2. Check out how sperm whales look when they sleeping next to each other.
  3. I have never heard of this subgroup of people in Australia. But then again, I don’t hear much about Australia, I guess.
  4. Hot dog taste test, just in time for your summer bbq needs!
  5. Kenji Lopez Alt is opening a beer and sausage hall?!
  6. Hopping to watch Baby Driver soon!
  7. Have you ever peeled a lime?
  8. Diners are dying. I love retro diners so this makes me sad.
  9. A cute lil love story.
  10. Do you ever read Monocle?

Link Love:

  1. It’s the middle of summer and everyone’s into salads, but instead I’m digging this pasta pie.
  2. I dip, you dip, we dip!
  3. Summery pavolvas are where it’s at: lazy easy crunchy crispy chewy sweet creamy fruity tangy – so good!
  4. Frozen mint lemonade sounds perfect right now.
  5. The prettiest fruit salad.

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. I devoured this book all night at camp, staying up way too late. Told from two perspectives, it’s heartbreaking and hopeful.
  2. If I ever own a restaurant that needs soy sauce holders, I’m going to bulk order these Hello Kitty soy sauce bottles :)
  3. Mike has been loving this mini hatchet/axe we got for making tinder and kindling at camp.

Lately on I am a Food Blog:

  1. The start of our Canadian adventure!
  2. Our visit to the Badlands of Canada – where the dinosaurs used to roam.
  3. Creamy cheesecake carrot cake pudding pops and how I almost cried at an ice cream store.
  4. Warm, savory potato salad with savory soy honey granola.
  5. Sweet and salty miso grilled tofu.
  6. Warm mini skillet cookies with ice cream!

Hope you guys are having a blast, now that we’re in the heat of summer!
icy cold treats and drinks for everyone,
xoxo steph

STEPH I saw Baby Driver just last night. It was incredible! Blew all my expectations out of the water. Pure old-school fun. Definitely get on it!

I’ve tried peeling a lemon, completely destroyed the thing.
