Friday Finds: 7.27.18

Posted July 27, 2018 by Stephanie

It’s the last Friday in July! Are you guys celebrating? Sometimes it feels like every day in summer is a celebration. Friends want to hang out more, there are more family barbecues, and essentially everyone is out and about doing things into the long, light-filled summer nights.

We’ve been busy with a bunch of work projects but we’ve still managed to: eat our way through a massive barbecue at Mike’s parents house, hit up the newest brewery in town with friends, and eat too much ice cream. Summertime is the best!

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading on the internets during those random moments of down time.

Webstuff:

  1. Why do we need to sleep?
  2. Seems like everyone is talking about this Gwyenth Gwyneth Paltrow feature.
  3. Do you ever watch a movie, are really into it, then three days later can’t remember any of the details? This explains it.
  4. Can you really tell what other people are thinking?
  5. Her whole childhood she was told she was dying – she wasn’t.
  6. This long read on car paint was really interesting.
  7. Why everyone has an Instant Pot.
  8. This dude went all Black Mirror and asked his friends to give him a social credit score.
  9. I remember reading so many of Johnathan Gold’s reviews and lists – can’t believe I’ll never read a new one.
  10. The true wholesomeness of Mr. Rogers.
  11. A sweet profile on Cecilia Chiang, the woman who opened the very first authentic Mandarin restaurants in San Francisco.
  12. Why all cakes on Instagram look the same.
  13. I have a pair of Birkenstocks…LOL

Link Love:

  1. These black sesame mochi muffins look chewy and crisp and perfect.
  2. I’m all about ice cream with things in it so this streusel streaked cherry ice cream is just what I’m dreaming off.
  3. These little blueberry cakes with mirror glaze are so cute.
  4. This salmon salad is everything I want for dinner.

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. This looks like a fast and intriguing summer beach read – family intrigue, a missing twin sister, and a custody battle.
  2. These little smiley dish sponges are so cute, but I’m not sure I’d be able to use their sweet little faces to scrub pots.
  3. I’ve been flirting around with making t-shirts lately and Mike did some research and suggested that we get a Cricut. It sounds like an amazing machine but I’m a little hesitant because a.) it costs a lot and b.) it looks kind of complicated to use. Have you guys ever used one/do you have one?

Anyway, that’s all! Hope you guys have a lovely weekend filled with boba tea and other sweet treats!
