Friday Finds: 4.13.18

Posted April 13, 2018 by Stephanie

It’s Friday the 13th! Good thing I’m not hugely superstitious about it. Instead of worrying about bad luck, I’ve been spring cleaning like mad because we’re in the midst of moving. We’re downsizing and it’s taking me forever to decide on what we’re going to be able to pack into our tiny 500 square foot space and what we’ll be putting in storage/getting rid of forever. It isn’t pretty and I’ve been annoying Mike with very serious questions like: should we bring our entire enamelware collection to the new place or should we just pick out a few key pieces? Hopefully everything important will make the cut.

I’m really excited about moving because, well, I’ve been wanting to live a more minimalist lifestyle and right now we have a spare room of random things that I just put things in because I don’t know what to do with them. So a big purge is key. Anyway, the move has been consuming all of our time. In my down time, I’ve been surfing the internet (of course) and I started the 100 days project, just for fun. Let me know if you’re doing it too, I’ll check out your posts!

Webstuff:

  1. This new Pixar short has a anthropomorphized dumpling!
  2. This twitter shrimp fried rice saga was SO GOOD. I’ve already recounted it to 3 separate people and they were just as invested as I was in it.
  3. There was also a viral case of hair drier roast chicken.
  4. I kinda of want to try Weird Al’s NYT’s crossword puzzle!
  5. This chicken controversy is INTENSE. Please let me know your thoughts!
  6. It’ll probably cost a gazillion dollars but don’t these cozy beds on a plane look fun? h/t to Mike!
  7. The biz of being Cardi B.
  8. I have fond Ramona Quinby memories. Can you believe Beverly Cleary is 102!
  9. Tips on how to quit Facebook from a dude who quit the internet for a year.
  10. Damn, bread is salty!
  11. Mayo-ketchup, yay or nay?

Link Love:

  1. Raspberry lemon snickerdoodles look right up my alley.
  2. I’ve been dreaming about these scones with bourbon blueberry quick jam from The Faux Martha‘s new book The Minimalist Kitchen.
  3. Classic sour cream coffee cake.
  4. These salmon rice bowls look perfect for welcoming in Spring.
  5. These very good vegan biscuits with miso and green onions look amazing.

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. Just ordered another bottle of Vitamin D – I feel like my immune system (and my emotions) are happier when I take it!
  2. This book looks like an awkwardly wonderful love story.
  3. Mike and I went through a puzzle phase and I’m thinking we should get back into it. This one is so quaint! Do you guys ever do puzzles?
  4. I started an Amazon page where I’ve listed a bunch of kitchen things I love, check it out if you have some time!

Lately on I am a Food Blog:

  1. The fluffiest pita breads ever, Moroccan style.
  2. Kale stuffed shells, ’nuff said.
  3. Chicken rendang, because I had to after Rendangate.
  4. We went all over Tokyo in search of the best gyoza.
  5. Instant pot black dal will answer all of your vegetarian comfort food needs.
  6. Mike made corned beef – it was SO GOOD!
  7. This Vietnamese take on Australian meat pies were very addictive. I’m pretty sure I ate 5 of them, which means I essentially ate the whole batch.
  8. Our little Colorado trip, which was full of noodles.
  9. Wagyu beef rib pho!!!!!

Have a wonderful wonderful weekend friends!

Getting rid of the clutter is a great idea. It’s something I went for a few years back and it really changed my world a lot. It’s funny how you can suddenly manage perfectly well without a lot of stuff you thought you needed but didn’t really. Good luck with the move!
