Friday Finds: 8.17.18

Posted August 17, 2018 by Stephanie

It’s hatch chile season!! Mike and I always get excited when we see all the signs that say “HATCH CHILES ARE HERE.” I’ve eaten entirely too much hatch chile cornbread and I’m not going to stop any time soon. We have a bunch of hatch chile recipes coming soon so I hope you guys are fans!

In other news, where the heck did August go?! How is it the middle of the  month? I guess what they say is true, the busier you are the faster time flies by. I remember when I was a kid the summers seemed to last forever. I wish I could slow it down a little because there’s so much to do and not enough time to do it. Still, as always, I’ve managed to find some internet time sucks to waste away all my free time.

Webstuff:

  1. Um, I am ridiculously excited to watch this on Netflix tonight because I remember reading this book back in 2014 and it was so cute and cringe-y and perfect. I’m pretty sure I’m going to watch it a thousand times.
  2. Speaking of books being made into movies, Crazy Rich Asians seems like it’s doing really well. Definitely on my watch list.
  3. Amish vacation.
  4. This is kind of old, but still completely creepy. What happened?
  5. Chocolate design. It can cost you billions.
  6. This made me want to listen to more Post Malone, which I hardly ever do, except when he randomly pops up on Spotify.
  7. On mayonnaise and millennials.
  8. This guy gets it. I’ve only watched one episode of David Chang’s Ugly Delicious and couldn’t really stomach it. I wasn’t really able to put my finger on it and chalked it up to a bad episode, but this article made me think.
  9. Vanilla thieves and their impact.
  10. Dive deep into the world of burritos.
  11. I love iceberg lettuce!
  12. Newsflash: no one is original on Instagram. ?
  13. The life and times of Ariana’s fiancé and Ariana herself on Carpool Karaoke.

Link Love:

  1. Beef Wellington tarts have my heart.
  2. Summer pasta salads are where it’s at.
  3. Also chicken gyro salads!
  4. Have you guys ever had Chinese style tomatoes and eggs? One of my all time comfort food dishes.
  5. Savory parmesan waffles. Be still my heart!
  6. Kinda interested in trying crockpot lasagna :)

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. I just raced through this book. What is it about boarding school novels that I love so much? This one has a secret society, old-school money, and a unsolved mystery.
  2. Thinking of getting this so we can make some old-school square spaghetti.
  3. Back to school (well, not back to school, but school supply season) means new sharpies!!

Happy Friday! Hope you have some hatch chiles :)

I read “hatch chile cornbread” and went to the store and bought hatch chiles. Do you have a recipe you recommend? Are you possibly posting one this week?? :D

    1. Stephanie says:

eee, i bought the hatch chili cornbread at the store LOL
we’re posting pork shoulder chili and hot hatch chicken this week, but no cornbread :( sorry!!!!

      1. Jenny says:

No worries!! I excitedly await the hot hatch chicken!

  3. yesss I watched that movie on netflix and looooved it (is it weird that I like teen rom coms better than adult ones?)! Also, Beautiful Strangers is next on my reading list, it just opened up in my library queue…love a good boarding school novel or show or movie!

  4. Marty says:

We live just outside of Charleston, SC and there were a couple of grocery stores in the area that announced when they would be “Roasting Hatch Green Chiles” and selling them. Woot! I was thrilled. But brought back down to earth when I called at 2PM and they said they’d sold out by noon!!!
Wow! Y’all are becoming popular everywhere and there’s only so much chile that you can grow there.

We were, are and will be lifelong fans of your chiles!!

P.S. I was actually in Albuquerque a few weeks ago and just a little early to get the Chiles. Bummer. But, my stepmother Cleo used to make the best breakfast I’ve ever had!
She made waffles with the chiles in the batter and then topped them with a wonderful queso w/sausage and Hatch green chiles added in.
There’s no other breakfast that can top Cleo’s Green Chile & Sausage Queso Waffles. They are famous throughout our entire family.
Always hits the spot after having appreciated the different textures and flavors.
