Friday Finds 7.15.16

Posted July 15, 2016 by Stephanie

Whomp! Middle of July already. Where is the summer going? Oh wait, I know, I’ve been spending way too much time playing Pokemon Go, convincing Mike to creep around in the late of the night, trying to follow the oh so confusing map, in search of a rare(?) Tauros. Spoiler: he got one and I didn’t. Sad face.

Webstuff:

  1. Yes – “Shut out the noise and enjoy exactly who you are and what you have, right here, right now.”
  2. I dig it: the Fancy Food Show.
  3. Someone tried a happiness app to see if it improved their happiness level. The results are kind of mixed.
  4. When pop and street wear collide.
  5. This is so geeky-cute I can’t stand it. It truly made me lol.

Link Love:

  1. If you looking for some fun kawaii cake tutorials, check out Lyndsay’s over at Craftsy. They’re almost too cute!
  2. This pho bo roll is life.
  3. A three ingredient raspberry brûlée.
  4. I’m into bread and fruit in salad.

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. Mike and I don’t really buy each other gifts for our anniversary, usually we go on a trip somewhere, but this year we decided to invest/splurge and buy a new camera! I’m really excited because it’s a bit smaller than our monstrous full-frame camera so I’m thinking this’ll encourage me to bring it out more instead of using my camera phone all the time.
  2. I’m forever looking for a camera bag. I have no idea where to look, to be honest. Mike really loves his backpack, but I want something smaller and, well, let’s be honest, cuter. Any ideas?
  3. Currently reading The Girls: A Novel and simultaneously feeling a little uncomfortable about it and liking it.

This week on I am a Food Blog:

  1. Super summery, simple and oh-so-addictive cold noodle salad with salmon and a citrus dressing.
  2. Crispy one pan gnocchi with sardines and lemon.

Hope you guys have a weekend filled with ALL the barbecued foods and a Pokemon or six!
xoxo steph

Depending on what else you want to carry, the Cambridge Satchel Co Cartridge Bag was designed after camera bags and is a pretty nice size! You may have to line it yourself if you’re more concerned about protecting your equipment though; it doesn’t come with any soft inner lining.

I have a compact mirrorless camera and it’s perfect for it, with room for wallet/keys/phone, glasses case, an extra lens or two, and my sundries pouch. The strap is nice and wide and soft so it doesn’t dig into your shoulder.

    I adore your blog! Cheers!

Hey Steph. I don’t know what style of camera bag you might like but I love my House of Flynn bag. The quality is amazing http://www.thehouseofflynn.com/collections

    Hi Steph!

I love your blog and pictures so much!! I have the same backpack that Mike has, but I only use it for traveling because it’s so large. But on a day-to-day basis, I always use my smaller camera backpacks that are perfectly sized (I’m a 5’5″ female). They may not be the *cutest* but they’re not ugly/bulky either :) And the best part is they ensure your equipment is well-protected but also you can’t even tell they’re camera bags, so you won’t attract those klepto’s out there.

    – small and includes waterproof cover
    – has a very subtle pocket along the back side, where you can confidently hide your wallet/passport
    – size wise, it can carry a canon m3 + 50mm 1.2 (with hood on) in the main camera compartment. you can also fit another lens in the top compartment

For camera bags – really loving my Ona bag. Got the leather Capri b/c I wanted room for a book or ipad. Tried to shove something in the Bowery with the camera but it was really too small and really just for the camera. Think the Prince Street ones look great too. I’d wanted cross body and was happy the Capri has a strap but honestly hate using the crossbody strap b/c of the shape of the bag. If you don’t mind a shoulder bag its great.
