Friday Finds: 6.29.18

Posted June 29, 2018 by Stephanie

Happy last Friday in June! I can’t believe that it’s going to be July next week. We’ve been having June gloom over here for the last couple of days and I’m kind of missing the sun and the heat so I can’t wait for July to warm up. Mike and I have been insanely busy with work and I’m kinda just trying to hold my head above water simultaneously hoping and dreading our deadlines. I mean, once the deadlines have come and gone that means we can chill out and enjoy summer (I hope!). But once the deadlines arrive, I’m pretty sure I’m going to be freaking out about not meeting them?! Anyway, we’re taking a self-mandated weekend break because we need it :) Hopefully your summer is much more chill vibes? If it is, here are a couple of fun links to veg out on!

Webstuff:

  1. What ancient Babylonians ate: lamb stew, a proto-type borscht, and a veggie soup. h/t to Mike for that one!
  2. Boneless wings are a lie! Agree or disagree?
  3. America’s stockpile of cheese is at an all time high!
  4. You’ve heard about distracted driving, now there’s distracted parenting too.
  5. Chinese food in NYC’s East Village.
  6. The emergency room fees are astoundingly high and seemingly arbitrary in the states.
  7. This tiny apartment is too cute. Do you think you could live in such a small space?
  8. The little boarder town Amazon built.
  9. I haven’t seen The Incredibles 2 so I haven’t watched the newest short by Pixar, Bao, but I want to. Seems like some people aren’t so into it though. More on the confusion here.
  10. Do you love Cheetos? I do!
  11. What it’s like to eat when you’re afraid of food.
  12. Top-secret Target test store.
  13. Legit laughed out loud at this music video.

Link Love:

  1. These dipped cherries look AMAZING.
  2. This BLT pasta salad with avocados is calling my name.
  3. I love all lemon poppyseed things so of course lemon poppyseed popsicles are right up my alley.
  4. Lamb meatballs with mint yogurt look perfect for a summer dinner party.

I’ve got my eyes on you:

  1. It’s not really the season for tea (unless it’s of the iced variety), but this llama tea infuser is undeniably cute, in season or not.
  2. I weirdly have a highlighter obsession and these ones look really good because they claim they don’t smudge pen ink so I think I might have to get them?!
  3. A little wristlet that’s shaped like a croissant! A croissandwich wristlet!! EEP!

Lately on I am a Food Blog:

  1. 5 ingredient pasta alla gricia is like carbonara minus the egg, so ten times as easy to make and just as – if not more – delicious!
  2. Wings wings wings! Get your hands (and face, probably) messy with these sticky, savory, totally addictive char siu honey bbq wings.
  3. Baked donuts are a thing, and these grapefruit poppyseed donuts are tender, tasty, and very cute!
  4. Going to Tokyo? Don’t forget to eat udon!!

That’s it! Happy weekend friends! Hope it’s full of all the good stuff ;)

Please see Bao. It is poignant and charming and funny. I’m Caucasian and it still resonated for me as a Mom though I also had the experience of other people commenting negatively and loudly in he theatre. More diverse voices needed!

:) i can’t wait to see it! can’t believe people were so loud in the theatre, i’m pretty much used to people being quiet when the show starts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thanks for taking the time to comment!

I think you’ll love Bao! It’s certainly easy to understand, the confusion is confusing to me haha. Haven’t ever loved a Pixar short this much and from the sounds of everyone else in the theatre, they loved it too :)

Hope you enjoy Bao and Incredibles 2!
