Friday Finds: 5.8.15

Posted May 8, 2015 by Stephanie

I say this at the beginning of every month, but I’m going to say it again: I can’t believe it’s May! When I was a kid it seemed like the months took forever to finish, but now they’re just flying by. May is always a super busy month for me. It’s chockfull of birthdays and celebrations, lots of food and too much cake, if there is such a thing as too much cake…

Webstuff:
1. It’s an East Coast/West Coast battle. Where would you rather live?
2. This article is kind of old (at least in the world of the internet), but I’m still mourning the end of the avocado.
3. This story on the nail salon industry in NYC is heartbreaking.
4. I’ve only ever backed on Kickstarter – it’s still in the developing stage. Lots of Kickstarters don’t ever come to fruition though, and people get pretty angry.
5. This photo essay is kind of mind blowing.
6. Have you ever wanted to own an island?

Link Love:
1. I’ve got rhubarb on my mind and these mini rhubarb & strawberry galettes look delicious.
2. As does this raspberry rhubarb pie with lemon buttermilk ice cream!
3. These flaky ricotta biscuits would make a lovely start to a Mother’s day brunch.

I’ve got my eyes on you:
1. My skin always gets dry after flying and I think it’s time to face the music and realize my skin isn’t super youthful anymore. I’m on the lookout for a good face care routine. I’m thinking of getting into this face cream, but I’d love to hear what you guys love and use!
2. This flamingo one-piece is absolutely adorable.
3. My mom loves reading (it’s where I got my love of books) and I’m thinking she might this light and fluffy novel for a summer read.

Have a wonderful weekend and happy Mother’s day to all you moms out there!

love & potatoes,
xoxo Steph

PS – I didn’t bring my giant SLR to NYC with me and am suitably impressed by how good my iPhone photos came out. The one above was taken on the High Line.

That kickstarter article was fascinating, I’ve backed a few things on there but I’ve always been too scared to invest more than $20.

As far as skin care goes, my face would best be described as a desert. My go-to moisturizer that I’ve been using for a few years now is Khiel’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing cream (with the SPF). It’s a little pricey, but a jar of it lasts for forever. When my face is extra dry, I apply a mix of avocado and extra virgin coconut oil to it. It seems like overkill, but the oils absorb right in and make my skin so happy.

Rhubarb has been everywhere on the blogosphere this week. I think I’m going to have to go out and buy some. Great Friday finds! Happy weekend Steph!

Beautiful photo! In terms of moisturizing, I’ve falled head over heals for One Love Organics http://oneloveorganics.com/ I love It’s pricey but leaves me glowing. I love the Skin Savior– I use it as a makeup remover and moisturizer.

    You need this!

You can wear it when you’re flying and it’s great. It’s technically a mask but it’s more like a very thick cream so you don’t look like a weirdo wearing a mask on a plane. It works wonders!

  8. Lori says:

Crazy Rich Asians is a totally fun summer read! His second book is coming out this summer and I’ve already purchased it. Can’t wait for it.

  9. Adam Baratz says:

That pic is great – your iphone photos are awesome. I just got a super tiny mirrorless camera that I can’t wait to shoot the heck out of. No more lugging around my dslr!

  10. Kyle says:

    Thanks
