Friday Finds 5.20.16

friday finds - www.iamafoodblog.com

I think I cursed myself last week by saying I didn’t believe in the powers of Friday the 13th because the powers that be decided to make this week a solid 0/10 for me. On Sunday, as Mike and I were walking out of the elevator, a French bulldog that was standing right outside the doors, lunged out and bit me on the thigh. It wasn’t a small nip either, his teeth went through my pants and I was left with a gushing wound, which thankfully is healing over. But, of course, there’s still a massive blue-purple-green bruise on my thigh.

To be honest, I’m a little traumatized because this isn’t the first time this dog has attacked me unprovoked. The common areas of our building seem a little scarier to me now. He was a BAD dog. And he had a bad owner too, one that didn’t bother to make sure that I was okay – she basically ran away, trying to absolve herself from any responsibility, saying that the dog was her son’s.

And to top that off, the very next day I had massive, massive food poisoning. At first I was worried that I contracted some sort of dog disease, but a quick trip to the doctor cleared it up: it was just food poisoning. Thankfully Mike didn’t get bit by a dog or get poisoned so I had someone to take care of me. And now I’m on the mend and it’s Friday and I’m looking forward to good, hopefully uneventful, times ahead. Most of my week was spent sleeping, but I did manage to catch up on the internets yesterday, here are my finds!

  1. omg!!! i can’t believe that dog just bit you out of nowhere; i usually think of french bulldogs as being so mild mannered and cute, but maybe that’s just ‘cuz of instagram? and shame on the owner for just running away like that! holy hell. glad to hear you’re on the mend though xoxo

thanks cynthia :) biggest hugs lady!

  4. Janice says:

I’m having a bad week too, I’m so sorry about yours! I can’t believe the woman didn’t take responsibility. No matter who’s dog it is, she was the one with the dog so it is absolutely her job to be alert..ESPECIALLY since she knows that the dog is aggressive! I hate to suggest it but I think it needs to be reported…especially since it’s not the first time.

    1. Stephanie Le says:

oh no, i hope your bad week is going better now!

  5. That’s so terrible! Glad to hear that things are looking up now :)

    1. Stephanie Le says:

      definitely looking up!

  6. fionna says:

awww i can’t believe all that happened :/ that really, really sucks. hope you’re healing well and feeling better. i hate pet owners who don’t own up to their shit. if you aren’t a good owner then you should seriously take precautions with your pet when you’re outside cause what if you hurt others?! it’s so inconsiderate and actually drives me mad because it’s so unfair. if something happens, sometimes things can’t be fixed.

but hope you’re feeling a lot beter x

    1. Stephanie Le says:

      thanks so much fionna :)

Patagonia: Have you checked out this post by Nomadic Matt? http://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-blogs/patagonia-camping-hiking/

  8. Mandisa says:

I find solace in the fact that I’m not the only one having a horrible week although that dog incident is absolutely terrifying. The upside is the weekend is here :)

I am in love with your handbag. Please say it’s available online

  9. erin says:

OH MY GOD What a week dog bite/possible dog disease/food poisoning. Hope this week is better and thanks for sharing my cookies! xx

    1. Stephanie Le says:

thank you for the well wishes!! :)

  10. Dee says:

Report the dog bite since it was not the first incident with the dog. The owner is too irresponsible to own a dog. Wish you a speedy recovery.

    1. Stephanie Le says:

thanks :) i did end up reporting it – it just seemed like the right thing to do.

  11. Steph! My heart hurts for you right now. Food poisoning and dog bite in one month is bad, but one day is just downright terrible. Hoping you make a speedy recovery. PS: Thanks for the link love <3 If I could, I'd send you all the duck + pappardelle to make this week a lil better for you! xx

    1. Stephanie Le says:

thank you brooke! i’m all better now and could totes eat a plate of that pasta ;)

  12. Monica says:

I agree — you should totally report the owner of the dog so it doesn’t happen to you again, or someone else – or a little kid, ugh. I’m sorry that happened!

  13. Hey! Are you in Montreal in this pic??? It looks like Prêt À Manger in downtown Montreal!
    Xo

    1. Stephanie Le says:

it’s London! they have pret in Montreal?!?
