friday finds - www.iamafoodblog.com

Did you guys have an awesome week? I absolutely did! Last weekend, Mike and I had the best time hanging with Alana and her man, Moses. We spent our time making dim sum and even though there was an incident with an iPhone and the hot tub, a good time was had by all. I was planning on making Hainanese chicken rice for dinner, but the iPhone needed the rice more than we did, so we ended up having some pasta with Chinese roast pork. It was delicious!

Eventually, I did end up making Hanainese chicken rice (HCR) just for me and Mike (pictured above!). Have you guys ever had HCR? It’s so simple and so, so good. I think it’s kinda famous because Anthony Bourdain has sung its praises, but even before it became a sort of hipster thing to like, its been my go-to dish. It’s not super pretty, but it has to be my number one most favorite thing to make and eat. It was one of the few things that I would consistently eat when I was a kid so now, every time I want a food hug, I turn to Hainanese chicken rice.

Webstuff:
1. Ahh, Rhianna. Heart eye emojis.
2. Sounds a little strange, but I’d try this.
3. It is insanely cute seeing tiny Japanese kids taking the trains by themselves.
4. Corgi-con – it’s a thing.
5. The man behind all the pop music we know and love.
6. I guess I’m all about the music this week – GQ’s Taylor Swift profile. Oh and apparently there’s a corn maze of Taylor’s face?

Link Love:
1. This chicken rice is just the kind of comfort food that’s perfect for fall.
2. Next level sundaes.
3. These chocolate espresso snickerdoodles!
4. Apple cinnamon French toast casserole, yes please.

I’ve got my eyes on you:
1. My copy of Food Whore is on it’s way and I can’t wait to dig in.
2. I decided to treat myself to a monogramed Madewell tote and I am so, so in love. I got the English Saddle color and it’s perfection.
3. Recently I lost the felt laptop sleeve that I made and I’ve discovered that it’s cheaper to buy a completely constructed new sleeve thank it is to buy the materials to make my own. I’m thinking of getting this one, which is super minimal looking.
4. Cozy in a box.

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!
love & potatoes & all the pumpkin things,
xoxo Steph
