Fourth of July Flag Burgers

Posted July 4, 2016 by Stephanie

Happy Fourth friends! Mike and I decided to have a burger off this year. We came up with the brilliant idea of making flag burgers with alternating layers of red (beef) and white (turkey) meat! While I’m not very competitive in real life, I really enjoy going head to head with Mike. Even though, truthfully, he almost always wins, even when we’re having casual conversations.

Steph: I have no idea what to say about these burgers, aside from the fact that I had fun..and they were tasty.

Mike: What else do you need to say? Oh, say that you shouldn’t cook your burgers from room temp if you want them to sear and not be overcooked in the middle. That way you can entertain and educate.

Steph: Is the entertaining part where you set off the smoke detector?

Mike: That’s a sign of a good burger.

And that was our burger off! Let me know which burger you think looks tastier. Bonus points if you say mine ;) It’s the one with more stripes!

Happy Fourth! Hope it’s burger filled,
xoxo steph

No burgers were at my Fourth of July :( I do pick yours, even without instruction to do wise. It looks more like a flag to me! What a great idea!

  3. How awesome! These burgers are so brilliant it’s ridiculous! I love your creativity as much as I want to be devouring one of these right now!!!

But won’t one of them be over or under?

    1. Stephanie Le says:

      hey zac,
the turkey cooks faster than beef, so the turkey ends up being cooked through and the beef medium rare, which is how i like my burgers!

Both burgers looks great, my only thinking is that instead of turkey meat for the stars, I would have your mozarella chees. that would have been tasty~

  9. Kelly says:

The burgers are so cute! Do you have a recipe for the potato/egg salad that you have in the corner of your picture?

    1. Stephanie Le says:

i don’t have a recipe up for that exact one, but i have one for fully loaded baked potato salad and chinese sausage potato salad :)
